Looking for a TeamGenius alternative for your league's tryouts?

ScoutSheet is an independent product and is not affiliated with TeamGenius. It covers the tryout itself for a volunteer youth baseball or softball league: setup, player import, check-in and numbering, evaluators scoring on their phones even with no signal, and division rankings with CSV exports in the TeamGenius column layout. It does not do registration, payments, team formation or general messaging to families, which TeamGenius does.

How do they compare, as of October 2026?

As of October 2026. The TeamGenius column comes from a hands-on, read-only review of one league's TeamGenius admin account in October 2026. Each row names the section of that review it rests on, and features the review could not fully see are left out. TeamGenius may have changed since, and features on its other plans may differ.

Where does TeamGenius do more?

TeamGenius also covers registration, teams and messaging around the tryout, and ScoutSheet does not. If your league depends on any of these, plan for another tool alongside ScoutSheet.

What moves over?

  • Players, from a CSV export of your registration system: name, birth date, gender, position, parent email and phone numbers, the evaluation division (mapped to a ScoutSheet division), and Last Year Division, League Age and Select Team Candidate as extra fields.
  • Eval Groups: an Eval Group column (TeamGenius's time slot) puts each player not yet in a group into the Eval Group of that name in their division, creating it if it doesn't exist.
  • Your spreadsheets: report CSVs keep the TeamGenius export's columns in the same order, with "ScoutSheet Score" in place of the TeamGenius score and new columns only at the end, so formulas that point at a column keep working.
  • Past scores are not part of the player import. On request, the operator can load a TeamGenius score export into a practice (rehearsal) tryout, so a league can compare ScoutSheet's rankings with last season's.

How the import works, step by step, is on the features page.

What doesn't ScoutSheet do yet?

  • Billing: there is no pricing and nothing to pay for in the app today.
  • Native iPhone and Android apps: planned. Evaluators use the browser.
  • Emailing reports to evaluators: Admins share them by link, CSV or print for now.
  • Recording bounced or unsubscribed signup emails: planned.

Questions about cost, devices and data are answered in the FAQ.

Ready to try it for your next tryout?

A league board member asks for a league, and the operator approves it. You are then the league's first Admin and can invite your check-in volunteers.
